What Is The Trick To TRULY Getting In Shape? Here Is The Secret

The other day one of my all time FAVE clients texted me the following:

"Having a low day - need you to yell at me to go workout today! Please text me in all caps :)"

I know you want to know my response............

Here it goes:

"COMMITMENT, you want results you have to commit!  You will feel better after!  I can't yell at you!  You have to want it bad enough!"

The truth is that if you want to get in shape, if you want to lose your belly, if you want to tone your arms and thighs, if you want to have more energy............. YOU MUST COMMIT!

There is no real majic.  All you need is a great trainer to guide you with your diet and give you effective workouts that will get you results without injuring yourself.  But if you are not COMMITTED, none of this matters.  It doesn't matter if you have the best trainer in the whole world or if you workout 10 times a week, if you are not COMMITTED to your diet as well as your workouts, you will never achieve your goals.

And you have to COMMIT to yourself, not to your trainer, not to your spouse or partner or doctor, YOU HAVE TO WANT IT SO BAD THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES!

I thought of this at 4:15am today when my alarm clock went off reminding me it was time to get my workout in, even though I didn't have to be at work for another hour.  This usually isn't a problem, but last night my darling little angel was not feeling well and I was up ALL NIGHT LONG!

I sat in bed discussing with myself whether I should get up....... I was so tired!

But then I said to myself "what are you even thinking about, you are 100% committed to this, you will feel better after".

Then I thought of my husband, he always tells people that working out for me early in the morning is "MY MORNING COFFEE".  Isn't my hubby so cute!

I literally jumped out of bed, thanked God that I am blessed enough to be able to get up and get a workout in, and I had an awesome leg workout!

I did it!  I was COMMITTED, and I followed through.

I felt better, I was proud, and I was ready to conquer the day ahead of me!

You see, it happens to us trainers as well.  We are human, and just because we work in a gym doesn't necessarily mean that its easier.  We still have to deal with COMMITMENT.

My hope is that next time you think about whether you should go to the gym for your workout, or take an extra 30 minutes to cook, or take the time to do your meal plan and shopping list, that you will remember that in order TO GET IN SHAPE, LOSE YOUR BELLY AND TONE YOUR LEGS AND ARMS, you have to be COMMITTED, and you should only hold YOURSELF accountable.

  • So tell me, do you struggle sometimes to get your workouts in?

Great post, Michelle! I am always amazed to hear how often people whine about weight and health without doing anything about it. Commitment really is key to any real success in life, and it can be tough to carry that out-especially after being up all night with a sick baby. I hope Nicholas feels better :-)

So my workout rnotiue is this- 30 min of cardio (usually eliptical at 230 watts) m-f and then I alternate muscle groups daily, but I lift weight for another 30 min. On saturdays, I attend a body pump class. During my cardio, I burn between 450 and 500 calories, and I sweat like crazy. I don't want to increase my cardio more than 150 min a week, because personal trainers have advised me not to. I try to work abs a little bit everyday. I am doing a lower calorie diet (1500-1700 a day), and I try to eat something every 2 or 3 hours to keep my metabolism up. I lost 20lbs in 2 months, and now I can't seem to loose any more weight. I want to loose weight naturally (meaning I don't take weight-loss supplements) so I just stick to a daily multi-vitamin. I only want to loose like 2 lbs a week or so, and not much more. So what should I do to start loosing weight again?? I'm stuck Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Ok, some things I forgot I turn 21 this month, and I already eat alot of fresh fruits and vegatables, and alot of chicken breast because of the low fat and high protein content.

hello i was thinking the same thing about craoids and all that of cource ull get a good workout from that but your gonna have to put alot of effort into it or your muscles will get used to that amount of work and wont inprove, but skipping would be the best ur moving ur arms, wrists, legs, body and in some cases your head. so get about 10 or 20 minutes of skipping in your day ( full on) and u will inprove alot since i do boxing i thought it was hell going through the pain especially with being over weight but like i can say im pretty fit for being over weight, thanks to skipping and boxing training also skateboaridng
