The other day my parents invited me for breakfast. Of course, they wanted to go to a place that has typical Venezuelan breakfast food (not healthy at all.)
What was I going to do? It’s Wednesday, I just had a great workout, and I’m trying to eat HARDCORE GOOD! Oh the temptation is giving me anxiety and I wasn’t even in front of the food. I can do this I thought to myself as I was trying to convince my mom to go somewhere else. She said, just have a cup of coffee. Too bad the coffee they make there is with whole milk. I could die of a stomach ache!
Thank goodness, I was prepared. I had protein muffins in the fridge and with my Keurig, I made coffee in 60 seconds. I heated up my muffins in the microwave for another 60 seconds, packed them in a bag and stuffed them in my purse. And off I was with Nicholas in hand and totally equipped for a healthy breakfast amidst the temptation.
When I got there and my dad ordered a “cachito de jamon” and my mom an “empanada”, I thought I would have a hard time. But NOPE! I was totally ok! I didn’t even want a bite. I happily enjoyed my muffins and my coffee.

Had I not been prepared, I would have failed. I was starving, so if I would have gone there with no food and tried not to eat or indulge, I probably would have given in. But since I had my food with me, I ate it, felt satisfied, didn’t have low blood sugar (cuz I ate), and I TOTALLY ROCKED IT! It feels so good when you overcome temptation, right?
You too, can do this. No matter where you are going or who you are going with, if you are prepared with food, you can always battle temptation. But if you go somewhere there are no good or healthy options, and you are hungry and not prepared, there is no way your WILL POWER will win. If where you are going has healthy options than no need to worry or prepare, just make the best possible choice.
