How do you EAT CLEAN when you have BIRTHDAY PARTIES, EVENTS, AND OUTINGS on the weekends?

My days are always so busy, even the weekends!  Saturday we left the house at 10:30 to visit Danny’s grandmother in Miami, and then took Nicholas to a birthday party also in Miami.  So I knew that from 10:30am to about 7:00pm, we would not be home!

Now how the HEK do you eat clean when you are out all day and go to a 1 year olds birthday party?

Here was my plan!  I hope that it motivates you to take action and to eat clean whether you are busy or not.  Because IT CAN BE DONE!

As I made Nicholas, Danny and myself a healthy breakfast, I quickly made 12 protein muffins. This took about 3 minutes to put it all together and into the oven.  They baked while we ate (yes it takes about 20 minutes to feed my child these days). PATIENCE is a virtue!

After I cleaned up the kitchen and started packing up Nicholas’ bottles, lunch, and dinner, I decided I would pack myself food as well.  And thank God I did, as at the birthday party there was white rice with black beans, pork, and all kinds of guava and cheese pastries!  HELP!  There was not even a celery stick or a piece of fruit.  What would I have done had I not packed myself some food.

It only took me a few minutes to pack some food.  And if you are prepared throughout the week, it will only take you minutes as well.  Most MOMS end up eating pizza, hot dogs, chips, cake, etc at birthday parties because there are no other choices available, and they are starving and its either starve and be cranky or indulge in the CRAP!

I had left over delicious chicken stuffed with veggies (which I will be using for my Eat to be Fit healthy cooking class) and brown rice couscous with broccoli and toasted nuts from earlier in the week……….YUMMMMM.  So I packed that up in a Tupperware and put 3 protein muffins in a ziplock bag and packed it all together with Nicholas’ food.  That way I didn’t look like the Super Loser that’s crazy and brings her food to parties.

Listen my friend, it may sound like a lot of work, but it really isn’t.  If you cook throughout the week and make enough to have left over’s, you will be fine during the weekend, when it gets tough and you have all kinds of events going on.  Most of the time we fail because we are hungry and there are no good choices.  If you have a healthy snack with you, then you don’t get STARVED, and then it is much easier to RESIST the pizza, cake, brownies, etc.  So take a few extra minutes before you run out of the house and pack yourself healthy snacks or even meals.

I have to say I felt pretty good at the end of the day when I looked back at what a crazy busy and long day I had on the road all day, but I ate PERFECT!  I hope this motivates you and gives you hope that IT CAN BE DONE! It takes a little extra work, but it is well worth it!
