Have You Heard Of Kim Kardashian's Wedding Weight Loss Plan?

Ok, so I TOTALLY need to vent!

I was online doing some work and checking were my website is on the natural search engine on google when I come across this article on Kim Kardashian's wedding diet and fitness plan.  I wanted to die.

"According to the magazine's source, in order to fit into a size-two dress for her upcoming wedding, Kim will be following Tracy Anderson's strict regimen of a low-carb diet (1,200 calories a day of mostly green juices, broth-based soups, and protein bars) along with resistance training and cardio for two hours a day, six days a week."

"Kim Kardashian's wedding diet and fitness regimen sounds like a full-time ordeal. While getting in shape and feeling your best is an important goal for any occasion, we hope Kim doesn't stress herself out or turn to unhealthy practices just to be able to fit into her big white designer dress."

Seriously, I can not believe that there are trainers in this industry teaching this.  We are talking about a "Celebrity Trainer".

It doesn't take much thinking to know that a CALORIE DEPRIVED DIET  & OVER EXERCISE will make you lose weight.  But will you lose MUSCLE OR FAT?

Probably both, as well as your SANITY................ not like that is worth much to certain people.

Most people who engage in this type of behavior fail to see results.  Most of them have some temporary weight loss, but only to soon thereafter gain it all back and more.

Is it really worth it?  Is it worth losing your sanity and your enjoyment of health and fitness in order to drop 3 dress sizes......like yesterday?

You can get AMAZING results and get a LEAN & TONED body without having to eat soups, juices and bars as your meals.  And if you are eating bars I hope at the very least they are BB3 Bars.  You can actually eat a ton of "healthy food" and get even better results.  And what is best is that you will enjoy the whole process and you will never feel deprived and therefore you will MAINTAIN YOUR RESULTS, and that is key.

In essence what Kim Kardashian is doing is SLOWING METABOLISM and living in a catabolic state, which means her body is breaking down muscle and using it for fuel.  By eating often and eating foods that are THERMIC (foods that cause your body to work hard to break them down, burning more calories),  you SPEED METABOLISM, and end up burning MORE CALORIES.

And on top of that 2 HOURS OF CARDIO!  Are you effin kidding me!  Who has time and energy to do 2 hours of cardio?  Anyhow if cardio is done efficiently and effectively, it shouldn't be for more than 30 minutes with some hard core intervals in order to OPTIMIZE FAT LOSS.  For some great Interval Cardio Workouts, check out Bryan Francis blog.

I hear this type of thing often which is why as you can tell I am so passionate on this subject.

So many people are over exercising and not eating enough, and wondering why they are not RIPPED.  Why aren't they lean and toned if they work out so much and eat nothing?

Well now you know!  You are actually killing your body!

Don't be afraid of eating!  Food is fuel to the body, and eating healthy should be something you enjoy.

Exercise should be done moderately and effectively in order to get results, and an hour of cardio everyday will get you no where but OVER TRAINED AND FATIGUED.

I don't judge you though, you are not supposed to know this stuff unless you work with a high level trainer.  Who I do judge is trainers who are teaching this kind of behavior.  So please, share with me your thoughts.

  • Have you done this before?
  • Have you been on a low calorie diet before? For how long?
  • How did you feel?
  • Did you get results?
  • Did you maintain results?
  • How much cardio do you do?
  • Are you tired of doing so much cardio?
  • Do you think cardio is the solution?
  • Do you perform weight training?
  • Do you think weight training makes you big?
  • What has your experience been with weight training?

I won't judge you, I just want to hear from you!

With that low level of calories and high volume of aerobic work I can not see how muscle is not lost. I have never seen it happen in 15+ years. Great post Michelle!

Great blog Michelle, and the sad thing is that most of society looks up to all these celebrities in the spot light to mimic what they're doing. Sadly, most of the time it's bullshit and unhealthy. Let's just wait and take a look at Ms. Kardashian to see how she looks 2 months after her wedding. My bet is her ass will be fatter than ever! And I only say this because I know what it's like to train and diet down for something only to be disappointed that the results weren't maintainable. Spend it little bit more time doing things in a healthy and efficient manner, and you'd be surprised how maintainable the results can be. And I would love to see what Kim's cardio sessions are like. ;-)

I totally agree Billy! Its hard to believe that people will work so hard and for so long to only burn the muscle they think they are building! Crazy!

Right on B-Francis! I cant believe that this is what teenagers and women all over the world are aspiring to be. This is the example they are giving! And crazy to see that "Celebrity Trainers" are enforcing this kind of behavior! Blows my mind!

Fantastic post, Michelle! It scares me that our little girls read the types of articles you reference and then emulate this same routine. This type of plan is so ridiculous. If a person claims to do two hours of cardio, then they're not doing REAL cardio.......and following a 1200 calorie diet is a great way to do a face plant in her wedding cake. It also makes me sad that so many females, young and old, buy into this mindset and live a fairly miserable life. Hopefully, lots of them find your blog :-) Thanks for a great article!
