The other day I was talking to my sister-in-law who is helping me collect some information on what all her friends who are MOMS need from a FITNESS/NUTRITION program….as I am working on one currently. Every single response she sent me said “a workout that takes 20-30 minutes as I don’t have time”, “a food plan I can make in little time, as I don’t have time”, “fast meals”, “easy fast workouts”, “meals that are healthy that I can have my family eat as well as I don’t have time to cook separate meals for myself”…and the list goes on.
I get you SISTA! You don’t have time! Whether you have an infant that requires all of your time and energy, a toddler that you are running behind all day, or teenagers that you are taking around to activities all day…..you don’t have time! But if you want it BAD ENOUGH, you will make the time.
All of these women that gave me all this information had one thing in common. They are all dying to get in shape. They complain they are “fat” and have “no energy” all day long!
They also have another thing in common, THEY DON’T WANT IT BAD ENOUGH!
Because if they did, they would make the time, they would make it happen. You are not the, first nor the last woman to have a full time job, 3 kids, a house to clean, laundry to do, and meals to cook for the family. I have had tons of SUPER MOMS, do all of this while achieving their fitness goals. It all comes down to…..HOW BAD YOU WANT IT.
You have to organize yourself and prioritize. The title of this blog says EVEN SUPER MOMS CAN’T DO IT ALL, because I believe that you have to give on some things sometimes. For example: A girlfriend of mine who has 3 kids was complaining this weekend of not being able to workout. In the same conversation she was complaining about cleaning her house. She spends about 4-6 hours a week cleaning it because she is compulsive. I asked her, why don’t you get a cleaning lady? You can even find one these days for $10-$20 per hour. She said: Because she will never clean my house the way I like it.
PROBLEM #1: Listen SISTA! You cannot do it all!! If you want some sort of a life and happiness you have got to give it up sometimes. I am pretty compulsive myself but I have had to change. I have a cleaning lady that cleans my house in 4 hours. That is the best money I spend all week. So she doesn’t clean my house as perfect as I would, but hey it’s pretty damn clean and I can use that time for other things that are more important. In those 4 hours, you can cook for a whole week and get like 2 workouts in!! When I was pregnant, my aunt sat me down and said, Michelle I think you need to get help to clean your house or maybe to cook. Oh my gosh! I got so defensive! But I can do it all, I said. I can clean my house, I can cook, I can I can I can…………. Well, my friend, when you have children, priorities change (as I am learning now). You can’t work, cook breakfast lunch and dinner, clean your house, play with your kids, or run them around every where they need while still maintaining sanity.
Maybe you can pay a babysitter for an hour and a half to watch the kids while you cook food for a whole week, that way you have healthy meals ready to go all week. Maybe you need to wake up an hour earlier than normal to get a workout in. I wake up at 4am everyday so that I can get my workout in, because I can’t do it after work, because I have to pick up my son.
It’s all about how bad you want it. If you want it bad enough, you will find a way, you will make sacrifices, you will make it happen. So, STOP making excuses! Organize your life, set some priorities, get some help if you need it, and make it happen girlfriend. I promise it will be WORTH IT.
