Do you find yourself "PICKING" at "snacks" in the afternoon?

Today, my son, Nicholas woke up from his afternoon nap at 4pm.

It was time for his snack!  I grabbed his "organic prunes and pears" puree, a bottle of water.

For some MOMS who have toddlers or teens, the snacks are more APPEALING. Its pretzels, chocolate chip cookies (my favorite), chips, ice cream, etc.

This is the usual time that people "screw it up".  Its a hard time because its not lunch time and its not dinner time.  I hear it all the time from my clients.  My son was eating brownies so I had a few bites, I nibbled on some pretzels, I had a few spoon fulls of ice cream.......................... and so on.........

So this is what you do, you eat a snack yourself, but a healthy one.

Today as I grabbed Nicholas' snack, I also grabbed a snack for myself.  I had left over SPINACH TURKEY MEATBALLS and a nectarine.

Most people "TRYING TO EAT RIGHT" try to NOT EAT!

BIG MISTAKE!

If you want to LOSE WEIGHT and GET IN SHAPE, you must speed your metabolism.

And you can only do that by EATING OFTEN!

METABOLISM defined, is the rate at which your body digests food.  DIGESTION requires a lot of calories, so you BURN CALORIES in the process. If you eat often (every 3-4 hours), your body will be digesting food all the time, and you will be burning calories all day long.

So instead of trying to hold yourself over from lunch time to dinner time.  Have a snack.  Not only will you be BURNING CALORIES, and SPEEDING METABOLISM, but you will be preventing low blood sugar which occurs when too much time passes without eating.

Because you know what happens when you have low blood sugar???

YOU CRAVE SUGAR!

Point of the day:

When you feed your children a snack in the afternoon, sit down yourself for a snack also.

You will be SPEEDING METABOLISM, BURNING CALORIES, PREVENTING BINGING, and getting one step closer to achieving your fitness goals.
