You don't have to starve yourself or eat really bland and yukky food in order to lose weight! Quite the opposite!! You have to eat often in order to speed up metabolism so that you can BURN FAT all day long. And you have to season your food and enjoy it so that you can be consistent and not fall off the wagon because you’ve been depriving yourself of everything! You can find tons of recipes to help you achieve this in this healthy cook book: "Eat to be Fit".
Nutrition is where you are going to get your biggest bang for your buck, so I’m going to give you some tips on how to enjoy the food you eat on your diet plan, so that you can be CONSISTENT and get super LEAN!
You must eat a lean protein, a starchy carbohydrate, and a fibrous vegetable every 3-4 hours. I know…..it’s soooooo much food, how do you prepare it all, and how in the world do you make it be tasty and not bland and boring. Here are tips that will help you eat to be lean on a consistent basis.
How to lose weight with these Breakfast tips
• Take the time to add veggies and herbs to your egg whites, it gives them great taste. You may also add a small amount of low-fat cheese for taste, it depends on how hard core you are going.
• Add a dash of salt to your oatmeal, it’s crazy but it makes a huge difference in taste. Of course also add sweetener. If it is still too bland add some berries (blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries). If you don’t like the consistency of the oatmeal, try blending it. I know crazy again, but it makes a huge difference.
• Make a breakfast sandwich by adding fresh veggies and herbs to the whole-wheat or Ezekiel bread. Add a bit of cottage cheese for more taste! Don’t forget the egg whites!
How to lose weight with these Lunch & Dinner tips
• Instead of adding salt for taste, use fresh herbs such as cilantro, parsley, basil, mint, sage, tarragon, scallions, etc.
• To add taste to chicken, fish, or turkey without increasing calories make a rub with dried herbs. You can use chili powder, curry powder, dried basil and oregano, etc.
• To make a crust like chicken, fish or turkey, instead of using the typical flour, eggs, and bread crumbs, baste the protein in Dijon mustard and then put the herbs on it. Example: Chicken basted in mustard and then coat it in a mixture of onion powder, paprika, dried thyme, dried oregano, and garlic.
• Any recipe that calls for mayo, use cottage cheese (low-fat or fat-free). If it needs texture, whip it up in a food processor or blender.
• If a recipe calls for bread crumbs, use oats, or make your own crumbs. I take Ezekiel bread or whole-wheat bread and I run it in the food processor and I store them in an air tight container.
• If a recipe calls for sautéing in oil, you TOTALLY don’t have to. Not even onions!!! I use stock to cook the veggies. Once the veggies are cooked, you can add olive oil for taste and texture.
• Salads are awesome, but can be boring! Jazz them up by adding fresh or dried fruit and no salt added nuts. Pine nuts are great on salads and veggies!
