The other day I was training a client at BB3 Training and Performance Center. I asked the usual at the beginning of a session.........and it was a Monday!
How did you eat this weekend?
So BAD, Debbie said!
Why I asked??
She proceeded with a million excuses.............. we went out to dinner, went out with friends, didn't have food made, didn't plan, had some drinks, etc...
Yeah yeah, you know how it goes.........................
I know the weekends are hard because most people are very social and busy with kids, activities, etc. T he reality is, you work so hard all week eating right and exercising, but if you screw it up so bad on the weekend by drinking and eating soooooooo badly.........YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH END UP BREAKING EVEN FOR THE WEEK.
That to me sounds like a big WASTE OF TIME! By working so hard during the week, you should end up losing a few pounds of fat or gaining some muscle. But if you eat so bad consistently every weekend, you will never get ahead!
So what do you do??
This is what I told Debbie.
I don't expect you to be perfect on the weekend, but be moderate. If you want to have a drink, do it one night not the whole weekend and shoot for only 1 or 2. If you know there are no good food options where you are going, make sure you eat perfectly all day and be moderate in your servings when you get to the "not so fit food". If you screwed it up for one meal......... don't say "Screw it", and eat badly the whole weekend. Just get right back on track and eat perfectly for your next meals.
Also, PLAN PLAN PLAN! Just like you do for the week, plan for the weekend. Make sure you have groceries and a menu for the weekend. Make sure you have healthy snacks and/or healthy left overs in the fridge that you can eat while you are home or take when on the go.
Don't let too many hours go by without eating because those are the times you make bad choices!
Stay tuned, as tomorrow I will share with you some tips and recipes that help me be prepared for a healthy weekend!
