Are You An Emotional Eater?

ARE YOU AN EMOTIONAL EATER?

What the heck does that mean?  Emotional eater?

You are sad so you eat…………  You are happy and celebrating so you eat……….  You are depressed so you eat………….  You are tired so you eat…………….  You don’t feel good so you eat………….  It’s that time of the month so you eat………………

Sound familiar?

Why is it that we correlate every emotion with eating?  Does it really make you feel better to eat something crappy when you are feeling down?  Or do you feel even worse because then you feel like you let your self down even more?

Why do we not only celebrate by eating but we also tend to do that with kids……..They get an “A” on a test, so they get to go to Mc Donalds!  This way of thinking really sucks…..excuse my language, but it really does.  You’re emotions should have absolutely nothing to do with your eating habits.  And the day that you understand this and live by it, you are gonna be one leaner chick!!!!

I’ll tell you a personal story and trick I have.  

One day I got fed up with the whole idea of “cravings” when it’s that time of the month.  I mean, you already have cramps, a headache, you’re bloated, your lower back hurts, you’re more fatigued, and you are super cranky!  Why in the world would you eat something fattening?  So that you can feel even worse, and more fat, and more bloated, and feel let down?  

So, I said… excuse my language……….. “screw that”!  I am not going to let it (my period), take me down.  So I completely changed my mind set.  I decided that I am not going to let it (my period) take me down.  Now I eat even better when I have my period.  I make a conscious effort to eat even healthier.  And since the day that I had that mind set change, I have never “CRAVED” anything sweet during my period.

You see, my friend, it is all about a mind set, not emotionsYou can CHOOSE to eat clean no matter how you feel!  It’s a CHOICE!  It’s a BATTLE!A battle that you can WIN!!!  So change your mind set, and choose to completely separate your emotions from your eating habits.

When you feel sad or depressed or happy, and you have the thought to eat a piece of cake……remember, CHOOSE not to!  Think about why you are eating it before you eat it…….  I’m not saying don’t ever eat a piece of cake or chocolate again.  I’m saying don’t eat if you are eating out of emotion.  As a matter of fact I ate a delicious piece of chocolate cheesecake on Saturday, and I don’t feel bad about it because I ate clean the rest of the week, and I didn’t eat because of how I felt.

Let’s WIN this BATTLE together!  Let’s focus on being Leaner & Stronger
