A MEAL THAT BURNS CALORIES! Here are some examples of Thermic Meals (burn tons of calories)

YES it is true!  There is such a thing as a FAT BURNING MEAL.

A Fat Burning Meal is a Thermic Meal.

A Thermic Meal is a meal that during the process of digestion, causes your body to work harder to break it down, in essence, burning MORE CALORIES.

OH YEAH!  You heard it right…….. a meal that burns calories.

Here is my chance to get you to really understand this, so that you can truly believe it, buy into it and actually apply it!  Because I know that if you don’t believe in something, you won’t do it.

There is such a thing as the “thermic effect of food”. This refers to the amount of energy (calories) expended in order to break down or digest food.  Some foods have a higher “thermic effect” than others.  Which means some foods will make your body burn more calories than others.

A Thermic Meal consists of:

  • A Lean Protein
  • A Starchy Carbohydrate
  • A Fibrous Vegetable

A Protein has a 20-25% metabolic boost.  This means that if you were to consume 100 calories of protein, you would burn 20-25 calories just in the act of digestion.

Woohoo, doesn’t that sound great?

A Starchy Carbohydrate has a 10-15% metabolic boost.  This means that if you were to consume 100 calories of protein, you would burn 10-15 calories just in the act of digestion.

A Fibrous Vegetable doesn’t have a specific %, because all veggies are different.   But your body has to work exceptionally hard to break down fiber so you burn tons of calories in the process of digestion.  Which is another reason why you should include veggies in all your meals.

Ladies, make sure you include each one of these foods in every meal.  And make sure you do the same for your kids.  It kills me when I see a “mom” having a nice salad with veggies and chicken for lunch and the kid is sitting next to her eating a grilled cheese sandwich.  Come on!!!!!!  Teach your kids at a very young age how to eat, and how to eat RIGHT!  It may take some time and patience, but you can do it.  Introduce all foods to your kids, even if it is just a little.

Meal #1

  • Baked Chicken
  • Roasted Broccoli with toasted almonds
  • Baked Sweet potato with cinnamon

Meal #2

  • Baked Halibut with lemon and parsley over a
  • Bed of sautéed spinach with toasted pine nuts
  • Herbed Brown rice pilaf

Meal #3

  • Turkey Chili with kidney beans
  • Roasted egglplant, zucchini, and yellow squash with fresh rosemary and thyme, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
